Violent crime surged across the country in 2020 compared to 2019.
As of December 26, Atlanta has had 692 shooting incidents and 154 murders.
At the same point in time last year, Atlanta had 480 shootings and 95 murders.
In the last month alone, 19 people were murdered and 74 people were shot, which are 375% and 90% higher respectively than the same time period in 2019. Shootings were also 116% higher during this time.
Meanwhile, arrests were down 54% in the last week, 49% in the last month, and 30% from the previous year.
